When you decide to hike there should definitely be some safety tips put in place. Especially, if you decide to bring your family or pets on a hike. Here is a list of safety tips to follow:
1. Make sure you wear proper shoes/clothing on your trip.
You will want to have proper sneakers and clothing on. This will depend on the weather that is forecasted for the day. If you don’t plan properly, you might not enjoy the experience as much.
2. Emergency Plan.
You will want to create a plan in case something god forbid would go wrong during the day. So, making sure you have access to a phone and portable charger for emergency purposes.
3. Bringing a friend
It is recommended to bring someone during your hike. Just in case something was to go wrong, you would have someone available and there to help you.
4. Snacks, water and emergency kit
If you are planning to do a long hike, you should be prepared with water, snacks, and an emergency kit. So, you are not dehydrated or hungry. Especially make sure to have this when bringing a younger child. You're not sure when they will be hungry, thirsty or hurt themselves along the way.
5. Map, Compass, GPS
If there is a possibility of your phone dying during the hike. You should make sure that you have navigation available to you. This will help you if you get lost or if you’re not familiar with the trail.
6. Customizing your essential items
Lastly, there might be items that might be more essential to others. So, whether that is sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, flashlight, and etc.
